We have Arizona Highways, Desert Magazine
and Plateau Journal.
There are reference materials on Hadj Ali, or "Hi Jolly"
as he is known, as well as mining journals
and a doctoral dissertation on the properties of the local Copperstone
Mine.
One of our most popular titles is "Desert Holes" which
explains what critter made what hole.
Anyone who has walked in the desert has looked at countless holes
in the ground. This book
describes what lives in these holes, who digs them and who 'borrows'
them.
We have many titles on desert flora and fauna, mining, history,
anthropology, and Native Americans.
Another subject of considerable interest is water. "The Cadillac
Desert" is a title that covers
this subject extensively.
Our Arizona history titles cover local and statewide subjects
from Father Kino,
building of the Hoover Dam, Poston Internment Camp, to
the Yuma Territorial Prision.
Biographical titles include Sharlot Hall, Sheriff Joe Arpaio,
former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor
and Charles Poston, to name a few. Grant funding from the Arizona
Community Foundation
also allowed us to expand our Arizona media collection.
A donation from Terry Sweetland, our newest Quartzsite Library Friends Platinum Member
has allowed us to add many new Arizona titles to our collection.
